Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this symposium, participants should be better able to:

  • Recognize the interplay between different healthcare disciplines in the assessment, diagnosis and management of neurological disorders, such as stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer's disease.
  • Discuss the opportunities and limitations of AI-driven solutions in neuroscience research and healthcare.
  • Identify clinical features and diagnostic criteria for different movement disorders to facilitate accurate diagnosis and management.
  • Utilize a multidisciplinary approach to managing movement disorders, involving neurologists, neurosurgeons, physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists.
  • Recognize the clinical presentations and differential diagnosis of ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA), facilitating timely and accurate diagnosis.
  • Apply principles of neuroprotective strategies and secondary injury prevention in critically ill neurological patients, including temperature management, glycemic control and seizure prophylaxis.
  • Utilize current, evidence-based guidelines and treatment algorithms for the management of epilepsy, including pharmacological interventions and surgical options.
  • Discuss emerging research in identification and management strategies in neurocognitive disorders.
  • Describe the principles of neurorehabilitation and the goals of rehabilitation in individuals with neurological disorders, including maximizing functional independence, enhancing quality of life and promoting community reintegration.
  • Recognize the indications for neurosurgical interventions in various neurological conditions, including brain tumors, vascular malformations, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord compression and peripheral nerve disorders.
  • Describe the pathophysiology of neuromuscular disorders, including autoimmune diseases, hereditary neuropathies, myopathies, motor neuron diseases and neuromuscular junction disorders.
  • Recognize the clinical manifestations and diagnostic criteria for common neuromuscular disorders.
  • Discuss the role of advanced diagnostic tests and neurophysiological studies in the evaluation of neuromuscular disorders and neuroimmunological diseases.
  • Apply the latest evidence-based guidelines and protocols for acute stroke management.
  • Discuss the role of neuroendovascular procedures in the treatment of acute stroke and prevention of recurrent stroke.
