COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course will allow learners to expand their leadership skills and improve communication practices, as well as develop consensus building and decision-making skills. Through active learner participation and refinement of communication skills, leaders will be better equipped to preempt potential conflict by understanding diverse viewpoints to find common ground for complex situations.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Department directors, department chairs, active Medical Staff contributors, committee members and those with past roles as medical staff leaders. NOTE: This course is by invitation only. Participants are identified by Zulma Berrios, M.D., and Ruben Ricardo, M.D., Chief Medical Officer.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Review team goals, strategy and results to date.
  • Interpret project experience to date, using a success and setback loop analysis.
  • Practice giving and receiving feedback on each team’s project to strengthen synergies and boost performance.
  • Resolve conflicting issues effectively; brainstorm solutions for any barriers to success.
