COURSE DESCRIPTION
Faculty for general medical education programs are responsible not only for transferring medical knowledge and clinical skills, but also for demonstrating practice-based learning, systems-based practice, excellent communication skills and professionalism to residents-in-training. Successful educators are committed to reflection, self-improvement and lifelong learning. The goal of this series is to provide faculty with resources and training in the practical skills necessary for teaching and assessing residents.

TARGET AUDIENCE: 
Family medicine physicians and all other interested healthcare professionals

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Recognize signs and symptoms of physician burnout and effective means to promote physician well-being.
  • Identify and assess resident competencies and milestones as identified by the ACGME.
  • Provide feedback and mentorship to residents based on evaluations.
  • Identify and recognize health disparities in medicine.
  • Learn and demonstrate evidence-based teaching practices to promote excellence in clinical care.
