MCI Radiation Oncology Grand Rounds: Circle the Organ in Prostate Cancer: Radiotherapy as the Most Personalized Cancer Therapy

During this lecture, radiation oncologist Neil Desai, M.D., will explore rapid advances in radiotherapy technologies and strategies in prostate cancer radiotherapy. He will discuss maximizing quality of life after treatment and individualizing treatment intensity to an individual's disease risk and presentation, focusing on the use of novel imaging during high dose per fraction stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) to accomplish these goals including ongoing clinical trials.

  • Identify potential and tradeoffs in MRI vs. PET for lesion delineation within the prostate during radiotherapy planning strategies.
  • Describe potential options for toxicity reduction using anatomy-sparing SABR.
