MCI Multispecialty Grand Rounds –Personalizing Treatment of Metastatic Hormone-Sensitive Prostate Cancer
Management of metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC) has undergone substantial advances over the past five years and continues to evolve. Beyond intensified androgen receptor pathway inhibition, emerging therapeutic strategies targeting the homologous recombination repair (HRR) pathway, the AKT signaling axis, and prostate-specific membrane antigen
(PSMA) have demonstrated meaningful clinical efficacy. Importantly, a subset of patients achieving robust and durable responses may be appropriate candidates for treatment de-escalation, with the goal of optimizing quality of life while mitigating long-term toxicity. This presentation will provide a comprehensive review of the latest clinical data within this framework.
Target Audience
Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Hematology Oncologists, Radiation Therapists, Endocrinologists, Pulmonologists, Otolaryngologists, Urologists, Colo -rectal Surgeons, Neurologists, General Surgeons, General Practitioners, Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Nurses, Pharmacists, Patient Navigators and all other interested healthcare professionals.
Learning Objectives
- Demonstrate an evidence-based understanding of the clinical effectiveness of intensified androgen receptor pathway blockade, PARP inhibitors, and other emerging targeted therapies in the management of metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC).
- Identify and appraise the spectrum of adverse effects associated with these therapeutic approaches and apply strategies to mitigate toxicity while maintaining treatment efficacy.
- Assess and interpret relevant molecular and clinical biomarkers to guide individualized treatment selection, optimize patient outcomes, and advance precision oncology in mHSPC.
