Echocardiography and Noninvasive Vascular Testing Lecture Series: Transcranial Doppler Imaging: Applications, Protocols and Diagnostic Criteria

This lecture will provide an overview of transcranial Doppler imaging applications, protocol components and diagnostic criteria of brain bleeds and vasospasm, assessment of brain death, diagnosis of PFO, and follow-up on sickle cell disease patients prior to transfusion, among other applications.   

Target Audience

Cardiologists, vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, echocardiography and noninvasive vascular testing specialists, nurses, sonographers, pharmacists, respiratory therapists

American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography - Sonographers and vascular technologists may use these credits to fulfill their ARDMS requirements. The ARDMS accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
 

Learning Objectives

  • Demonstrate the acoustic windows and protocol components of transcranial Doppler imaging. 
  • Identify and apply transcranial Doppler imaging in the diagnosis of differential diagnostic and pathological conditions.
  • Determine the diagnostic criteria used in different transcranial Doppler imaging applications.
