Echocardiography and Noninvasive Vascular Testing Lecture Series: Echocardiography Assessment of Left Ventricular Diastolic Function

Echocardiographic assessment of left ventricular diastolic function is an integral part of the routine evaluation of patients presenting with symptoms of unexplained exertional dyspnea or heart failure. This educational activity will present the current guidelines for diastolic function assessment using echocardiography, including two-dimensional (2D) and Doppler parameters to grade diastolic dysfunction. 

Target Audience

Cardiologists, vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, echocardiography and noninvasive vascular testing specialists, nurses, sonographers, respiratory therapists and pharmacy.

American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography - Sonographers and vascular technologists may use these credits to fulfill their ARDMS requirements. The ARDMS accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
 

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the clinical setting of left ventricular diastolic function assessment. 
  • Identify components of the echocardiographic assessment. 
  • Recognize how to interpret the current guidelines and diagnostic criteria of left ventricular diastolic function assessment.
