Chest Pain in Younger Patients
The primary care provider frequently sees patients with signs or symptoms that may indicate cardiovascular pathology. The goal of this course is to provide an update and overview on younger patients presenting with chest pain in primary care, and to provide the primary care physician with a sound framework with which to approach these patients presenting with cardiovascular symptoms.
Target Audience
Primary Care Physicians, Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (General).
Learning Objectives
- Identify signs and symptoms of chest pain syndromes in the low-risk patient seen in the primary care setting.
- Perform the correct initial diagnostic imaging for low-risk patients presenting with chest pain.
- Design a treatment plan and/or appropriately refer patients to subspecialty consult services or to the emergency room for acute evaluation and disease management.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 0.75 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
Your participation information will be shared with the ACCME, which will in turn report your points to ABIM. Successful completion of a course examination is required to earn ABIM MOC points.
