Acute Virtual Consult Training
In-person consultation remains the option of choice for hospitalized patients. Telemedicine consultation (Acute Care Virtual Consults) for hospitalized and emergency department patients may be used as a supplemental tool to complete a consultation in a timely manner when the consulting physician’s specialty/sub-specialty is constrained due to a limited number of credentialed physicians, pandemic/disaster conditions, remote clinical location, or for an important patient/hospital need.
With previous evaluation and approval by the Medical Executive Committee, telemedicine consultation can be used in special circumstances. This course was designed to inform and educate credentialed Baptist Health South Florida healthcare practitioners on the Acute Care Virtual Consult process and expectations as a standard for conducting a telemedicine consultation for hospitalized and emergency department patients.
Target Audience
Baptist Health medical staff seeking to obtain acute care virtual consult privileges.
Please submit the certificate of completion to your affiliated Medical Staff Office.
Learning Objectives
- Initiate, conduct and document a scheduled and ad hoc virtual consult in adherence with Baptist Health telemedicine policies.
