COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Please join us for “Once Upon a Time: The U.S. HIV Epidemic –– Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” with Katherine R. Schafer, M.D. FACP. Dr. Schafer will review and discuss the history of the HIV epidemic in the U.S., describe its evolving epidemiology and identify areas of progress in the prevention and treatment of HIV.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
Internal Medicine Physicians, Pharmacists, Physician Assistants, Residents, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, and all other interested healthcare providers
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Discuss the history of the HIV epidemic (US-centric).
- Compare the past approaches to HIV testing, prevention, and treatment to the present.
- Identify indications for pre-exposure prophylaxis and how to implement it.
