COURSE DESCRIPTION:  

Coronary artery calcification is a major risk factor for the development of cardiovascular disease. It is associated with major adverse cardiovascular events, such as vascular injury and inflammation. Please join us in this in this lecture as we will discuss evidence-based recommendations on the use of coronary artery calcium scans in women as well as examine research updates on female-specific and female-predominant cardiovascular risk factors.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Internal Medicine Physicians, Physician Assistants, Residents, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Pharmacists and all other interested healthcare providers. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Examine research updates on female-specific and female-predominant cardiovascular risk factors.
  • Discuss evidence-based recommendations on the use of coronary artery calcium scans in women. 
  • Evaluate research updates on the relationship between coronary artery and breast arterial calcification in women.
  • Review evidence-based cardiovascular risk reduction strategies in women with arterial calcification.
