COURSE DESCRIPTION: 
Please join us for a discussion on “An Approach to Hemostasis and Thrombosis for the Internist” with Srikanth Nagalla, M.D.
Dr. Nagalla will describe the basics of primary and secondary hemostasis, assess the tests used to evaluate hemostasis, and discuss the approach to prolonged PT and aPTT. Other relevant aspects of this topic will also be addressed.

Internal Medicine Physicians, Pharmacists, Physician Assistants, Residents,  Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, and all other interested healthcare providers

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Describe the basics of primary and secondary hemostasis.
  • Assess the tests used to evaluate hemostasis.
  • Discuss the approach to prolonged PT and aPTT.
  • Discuss the approach to thrombocytopenia and basics of ITP, TTP and HIT.
  • Examine the basics of hypercoagulability testing.
  • Explain the approach to duration of anticoagulation.
