There is a wide disparity of clinical practice for the management of significant pain in the inpatient setting across our Baptist Health. Join us as we discuss how to practice safe and effective opioid prescribing to adequately manage pain with a patient-centered focus.

Target Audience

Residents, fellows, physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, students, pharmacists, dietitians, administrators, biostatisticians, and other healthcare professionals interested in participating.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify the multidisciplinary team members and their role to support and manage patients experiencing significant pain during their hospitalizations. 
  • Demonstrate an enhanced understanding of opioid pharmacology, including mechanisms of action, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics to ensure safe and effective prescribing practices.
  • Implement effective clinical decision-making processes to optimize patient outcomes and manage risks of misuse, addiction, and overdose.
