Echocardiography and Structural Heart Symposium, 44th Annual

September 23, 2027 to September 25, 2027

Live, In-Person Symposium
Thursday-Saturday, September 23-25, 2027
Loews Coral Gables Hotel, Coral Gables, Florida

Welcome to the 44th Annual Echocardiography and Structural Heart Symposium.

As valvular heart disease and structural heart treatments become increasingly integral within cardiology, our symposium focuses on building the fundamental tools of echocardiography and multimodality imaging. Tailored to both beginner and advanced skill levels, each section is constructed from the ground up, ensuring a comprehensive understanding from the perspective of the sonographer scanning the patient to the reader, cardiologist, surgeon or other medical professional caring for the patient.

What to Expect

  • Core Echocardiography Principles: Our agenda spans core echocardiography principles, encompassing cardiac structure, function, valvular assessment and hemodynamics, aligned with current guidelines.
  • Cutting-Edge Discussions: Internationally renowned faculty will lead discussions on the latest technologies and future directions in structural heart disease assessment and treatment.
  • Advanced Imaging Techniques and Treatment Approaches: Topics will range from advanced imaging techniques, such as 3D echocardiography, strain, CT, MRI and TEE, to innovative valve repair and replacement approaches, including TAVR, TEER, TMVR, and emerging tricuspid interventions.
  • Special Focus Areas: A spotlight will shine on the evaluation and management of aortic, mitral, tricuspid and pulmonic valve disease, as well as prosthetic valve assessment, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and other complex structural heart conditions.
  • Controversies and Debates: Controversies surrounding diagnostic and treatment approaches will also be addressed.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this symposium, participants should be better able to:

  • Apply key principles of valvular heart disease assessment and echocardiographic interpretation to support effective collaboration among sonographers, cardiologists and the structural heart team.
  • Recognize complex echocardiographic findings and apply advanced imaging techniques in the evaluation of valvular and structural heart disease.
  • Demonstrate the utility of multimodality imaging in the assessment of complex valvular and structural heart disease to support diagnostic accuracy and procedural planning.
  • Assess aortic, mitral, tricuspid, and pulmonic valve disease using basic and advanced imaging techniques to guide diagnosis and treatment.
  • Apply current evidence and clinical data to optimize treatment strategies for structural heart interventions, including transcatheter and surgical approaches.
  • Describe the role of transesophageal echocardiography, 3D imaging, and multidisciplinary collaboration in the planning and guidance of structural heart procedures.

Who Should Attend

This year’s symposium extends a special invitation to sonographers, sonography students, anesthesiologists, cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, ED physicians, critical care physicians and other medical professionals deeply invested in echocardiography and the latest advancements in structural heart disease diagnosis and treatment.
