In Baptist Health’s unique training program, participants practice cognitive, technical and behavioral skills on computer-operated mannequins programmed to replicate life-threatening medical emergencies. The interactive simulation models are developed to respond to participants’ actions. Immediate debriefing allows multidisciplinary teams to reflect on their communication, actions and overall performance.
The Simulation Lab offers various courses for inter-professional teams in anesthesia, peri-operative, labor and delivery, neonatology and emergency medicine for both adult and pediatric care.
Physicians, Nurses, Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), Respiratory Therapists, Technicians, Clinical Partners, and Pharmacists
- Demonstrate basic principles of effective teamwork- leadership, role clarity and closed loop communication.
- Explain the advanced principles of team dynamics- situational awareness and shared mental models.
- Assess how human factors affect individual and team performance.
- Summarize the impact of crisis resource management on patient safety and outcomes.
We ask that you come dressed and prepared as though you were having a regular working shift. Please bring all implements that you would normally have at work with you to the simulation lab. We will be located in the BHSF Simulation Bus parked on your campus and ask that you arrive no later than 5 minutes prior to your scheduled simulation. Late arrivals will not be able to attend the course and must reschedule.
