ForwardHerbert Wertheim Cancer Institute – Lung Cancer Screening
As evidence and recommendations for lung cancer screening continue to evolve, clinicians must be prepared to identify appropriate candidates for screening and engage patients in informed decision-making.
This activity will provide clinicians with practical strategies to implement U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) lung cancer screening recommendations, including the use of risk assessment tools to identify eligible individuals.
Participants will explore how to conduct effective shared decision-making conversations that address the benefits, risks, and patient preferences associated with screening. By integrating these evidence-based practices into clinical care, clinicians can enhance adherence to screening guidelines, promote earlier detection of lung cancer, reduce delays in diagnosis and improve patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this conference, participants should be better able to:
- Identify patients who meet the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommended eligibility criteria for lung cancer screening in outpatient clinical practice.
- Apply the updated USPSTF lung cancer screening guidelines to clinical decision-making, including appropriate use of low-dose computed tomography (LDCT), during routine patient encounters.
- Implement evidence-based lung cancer screening recommendations within their practice setting to improve early detection and optimize patient outcomes.
