COURSE DESCRIPTION: 
Please join us for a conference on Preventing Medication Errors: Strategies for Safer Prescribing Practices with Krista M. Riveron, Pharm.D., J.D., M.S., BCSCP. Dr. Riveron will identify the most common types of medication errors that occur in clinical practice, examine the factors that lead to medication errors – including those related to systems and humans – and implement strategies that minimize the risk of medication errors in prescribing and administration.

TARGET AUDIENCE:
Internal Medicine Physicians, Pharmacists, Physician Assistants, Residents,  Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, and all other interested healthcare providers

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Identify the most common types of medication errors that occur in clinical practice.
  • Examine the factors that lead to medication errors, including those related to systems and humans.
  • Implement strategies that minimize the risk of medication errors in prescribing and administration.
  • Explore the impact that electronic health records and clinical decision support systems have in the reduction of medication errors.
