COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The BMHG surgery team will use the morbidity and mortality rounds to analyze the team management of a patient care, identify opportunities for surgical and system improvements and, as an interdisciplinary surgical team, address causes of adverse patient outcomes with the goal of improving patient care. 

Participation in the morbidity and mortality rounds are by invitation only. 
 

TARGET AUDIENCE:

BHMG Surgery M&M invited members only (Surgeons, PAs, and APRNs in the Department of Surgery). 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Analyze team management of a patient care and clinical outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities for surgical and system improvements to reduce the morbidity and mortality of surgical patients. 
  • Utilize the knowledge of the interdisciplinary surgical team to address causes of adverse patient outcomes. 
  • Perform literature review related to specific clinical cases.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program.
