COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The knowledge and interpretation of tumor genetics are playing an increasing role in the management of many malignancies. This knowledge has a great potential to improve the patient care and the health care system. To realize the full potential of this information, its role, benefit and challenges, it is crucial to have a thorough discussion among members of the MTB together with a strong leadership. The multidisciplinary approach has become crucial recently due to the ever-increasing complexity of medical knowledge and the huge wealth of information that is available to physicians, in addition to the complexity of the various medical procedures and interventions available for cancer care.

TARGET AUDIENCE:
Medical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Surgeons, Pathologists, Pharmacists, Nurses, Social Workers, Radiologic Technologists and Patient Care Facilitators. All personnel involved in Research and Genomic Medicine and in the care of the cancer patient.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Interpret sophisticated genetic information from Next Generation Sequencing analysis
  • Implement optimal genetic strategies of treatment for cancer patients.
  • Utilize multiple disciplinary approaches to obtain material for diagnosis and treatment,
  • Determine cancer genetic profile using various laboratory modalities.
  • Understand mechanism of genetic progression, mutation and resistance, to be used to delineate new therapy.
  • Promote a multidisciplinary team approach by bridging gaps across the continuum of care in order to enhance the overall quality of patient-centered cancer care.
