PTCOG 60

Miami Cancer Institute invites you to Miami for what we hope will be a tremendously successful 60th edition of our annual PTCOG meeting. PTCOG 60 will focus on “Optimization of Radiotherapy Modalities”, reflecting our transformation from a nascent esoteric technology to a mainstream modality with a much better-defined use case. This has allowed us to move from dosimetric evaluations, case studies, and retrospective reports, to well-conducted prospective clinical trials, large and robust database analysis incorporating vast numbers of patients and producing real-world evidence, demonstrating not only clinical benefit efficacy, but also cost-effectiveness. Proton Therapy is now genuinely integrated with advances in surgical approaches, the development of targeted and immunotherapeutic agents, and entwined with other radiotherapy modalities.

Target Audience

Physicians, dosimetrists, and others interested healthcare professionals.

Learning Objectives

  • Review data from particle therapy clinical trials on the effectiveness and efficiency of radiotherapy and identify needed improvements.
  • List individual limitations of different modalities and recognize when multi-modality treatments can optimize patient outcome.
  • Recognize novel approaches for incorporating the known physical and biological characteristics of particle therapy into radiation treatment planning and patient treatment.
  • Identify appropriate candidates for clinical trials and improve patient enrollment access.
  • Reduce toxicity and optimize tumor control probability.
  • Apply advanced treatment planning approaches including biological considerations.
