Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Cardiometabolic Health

This course provides an overview of the clinical trial evidence supporting the use of omega-3 fatty acids in cardiovascular disease prevention.

Target Audience

Cardiologists, General Internists, Family Physicians, Emergency Medicine and Urgent Care Physicians, Obstetricians, Gynecologists and Physician Assistants.

Learning Objectives

  • Cite the clinical trial evidence supporting the use of omega-3 fatty acids in cardiovascular disease prevention.
  • Review the randomized clinical trials currently evaluating the incremental benefit of adding omega-3 fatty acids to statin therapy in high-risk patients with elevated triglycerides.
