Neuroprotection in Acute Stroke || COVID-19 Neurologic Clinical and Imaging Manifestations
The Miami Neuroscience Symposium Online will cover topics related to surgical management, stroke management, neurocritical care, neuro-imaging and neuro-oncology. The expert faculty will engage participants through complex cases and novel treatment strategies. Our goal is to share the most innovative and evidence-based clinical practices available in order to optimize patient outcomes in these areas of neuroscience.
Neuroprotection in Acute Stroke
Many patients with acute ischemic stroke are not eligible for thrombolysis or mechanical reperfusion therapies due to contraindications, inaccessible vascular occlusions, late presentation or large infarct core. This lecture will examine the evidence of a new neuroprotection therapy possible for stroke protection.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize the need for neuroprotection in stroke therapy.
- Identify strategies and predictors for stroke protection.
COVID-19 Neurologic Clinical and Imaging Manifestations
While there is abounding literature on virus-induced pathology in general and coronavirus in particular, recent evidence shows neurological disorders may be caused by complications of COVID-19. This lecture will address the array of neurological imaging manifestations of SARS-CoV2 and when to properly apply MRI in a COVID-19 patient.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the array of neurological imaging manifestations of SARS-CoV2.
- Recognize the imaging manifestations of stroke in COVID-19 patients and in non-COVID-19 patients.
- Implement proper guidance for when to apply MRI in a COVID-19 patient.
