MCI Radiation Oncology Grand Rounds: Evolution to MR-guided Ablative Radiation for Pancreatic Cancer – Synergy with Personalized Vaccination

This presentation will explore the rationale behind—and the evolution of—techniques for delivering ablative radiation using hypofractionated approaches with standard equipment over the past two decades, culminating in the emergence of MR guided radiotherapy (MRgRT). Dr. Crane will review key technical developments, clinical results, and future directions, including the potential integration of personalized vaccination strategies.

  • Demonstrate the ability to compare how hypofractionation and MR guided radiation therapy compensate for digestive motion in pancreatic cancer, including differences in motion management strategies, margin requirements, and their impact on treatment precision and safety.
  • Demonstrate the ability to explain how improved local tumor control contributes to a survival benefit in pancreatic cancer, including the ways local progression drives morbidity, limits systemic therapy tolerance, and influences overall treatment outcomes.
