Cancer complications can be classified as the direct or indirect effects of a tumor.

Dr. Chernecky will describe assessment strategies to aid in recognition of defined acute complications in oncology practice at the MCI Oncology Academic Educational Series: Oncologic Emergencies in Oncology Patients.

Target Audience

Oncology Nurses, Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Hematology Oncologists, Radiation Therapists, Social Workers, Patient Navigators and other interested healthcare providers

Learning Objectives

  • Identify patients at risk for defined acute complications of oncologic disease.  
  • Describe assessment strategies to aid in recognition of defined acute complications in oncology practice.
  • Outline interventions that enhance nurse-sensitive outcomes for oncology patients with acute complications of disease treatment.
