Evidence-based Clinical Care: Status Epilepticus

An estimated 150,000 adults present annually with an unprovoked first seizure in the United States. Even one seizure is a traumatic physical and psychological event that poses difficult diagnostic and treatment questions and has major social consequences. This education will review some of the seizure pathways at Baptist Health.

Emergency Medicine Physicians, Hospitalists, Family Medicine Physicians, Internal Medicine Physicians, Neurologists, Intensivists, Nurse Practitioners, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Physician Assistants/Physician Associates, and all other interested healthcare providers.

  • Assess the need for Baptist Health’s standardization of treatment for the seizure patient based on current, evidence-based practices.
  • Implement seizure protocols and power plans consistently in the emergency department and acute care settings.
