Echocardiography and Noninvasive Vascular Testing Lecture Series: Recommendations for the Evaluation of Left Ventricular Diastolic Function by Echocardiography

February 25, 2026

Accurate echocardiographic assessment of left ventricular diastolic function is essential in evaluating patients with dyspnea and suspected heart failure. This activity provides an evidence-based update on contemporary assessment techniques, including standardized measurement acquisition and emerging parameters for estimating left atrial pressure. Learners will apply practical strategies to interpret findings and integrate updated recommendations into echocardiography reporting.

Target Audience

Cardiologists, vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, echocardiography and noninvasive vascular testing specialists, nurses, sonographers, pharmacists, respiratory therapists.

American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography - Sonographers and vascular technologists may use these credits to fulfill their ARDMS requirements. The ARDMS accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

Learning Objectives

  • Apply contemporary echocardiographic measures to assess left ventricular diastolic function and estimate left atrial pressure across patient populations.
  • Perform standardized image acquisition to obtain accurate diastolic measurements.
  • Interpret echocardiographic findings to support heart failure diagnosis and risk assessment.
  • Integrate updated recommendations into echocardiography reporting for consistent clinical interpretation.
