COURSE DESCRIPTION
In Baptist Health’s unique training program, participants practice cognitive, technical and behavioral skills on computer-operated mannequins programmed to replicate life-threatening medical emergencies. The interactive simulation models are developed to respond to participants’ actions. Immediate debriefing allows multidisciplinary teams to reflect on their communication, actions and overall performance.
This course supports implementation of the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative Obstetric Hemorrhage Initiative (OHI).

Obstetricians, Nurse Mid-Wives, Labor and Delivery Nurses, PACU Nurses
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Describe the key elements of the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative Obstetric Hemorrhage Initiative (OHI).
- Demonstrate QBL and the use of hemostatic techniques and devices (B Lynch suture, uterine artery ligation, intrauterine balloon) used in OB hemorrhage.
- Utilize effective teamwork and communication skills in managing OB hemorrhage.
- Perform an inter-professional debriefing of an OB hemorrhage event.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
We ask that you come dressed and prepared as though you were having a regular working shift. Please bring all implements that you would normally have at work with you to the simulation lab. We are located at Baptist Hospital 4 Main rooms 4125-4127 and ask that you arrive no later than 5 minutes prior to your scheduled simulation. Late arrivals will not be able to attend the course and must reschedule.
