Target Audience
Adult and pediatric neurologists, neurosurgeons, stroke neurologists, neuroradiologists, diagnostic radiologists, critical care physicians, neurointensivists, emergency medicine physicians, internal medicine physicians, interventional neuroradiologists, primary care and family medicine physicians, general internists, neuropsychologists, nurses, nurse practitioners, rehabilitation and pain management specialists, integrative medicine physicians, pharmacists, pharmacy techinicans, respiratory therapists (direct delivery) and all other healthcare professionals interested in the treatment of common spinal disorders, as well as other specialists interested in the field of neuroscience.
Learning Objectives
- Recognize red flags that guide expert evaluation and medical management for patients with spine complaints.
- Review evidence-based, peer-reviewed publications from the last 18 months regarding the diagnosis and medical management of common spinal conditions.
- Define stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and how it differs from conventional external beam radiation therapy.
- Describe the roles of SBRT, surgery, and hybrid therapy.
- Highlight current literature and future directions of therapy.
- Recognize the clinical aspects of lumbar radiculopathy.
- Discuss the most common levels of radiculopathy.
- Review common tests for each radicular level.
- Identify common neural tension tests and limitations, and distinguish one level from another, including imaging.
