Physician Suicide: When It’s Close to Home
The rate of suicide among physicians is almost twice as high as for the general population. Sadly, many of our own suffer silently, but few talk about it or seek help. Physicians who experience suicidal ideation have been shown to be less likely to seek the help they need, and, on average, more than one physician takes his or her life every day. Even if you personally do not struggle with depression, somebody you work with almost certainly does.
Please join us for this important Clinical Well-being lecture, Physician Suicide: When It’s Close to Home. Guest speaker Betsy Gall will share her personal story, and Baptist Health’s Graciela Jimenez, LMFT, and Rachel Rohaidy, M.D., will discuss the signs, symptoms and experiences associated with burnout, depression and anxiety among physicians and appropriate resources for support.
