Echocardiography and Noninvasive Vascular Testing Lecture Series: Multimodality Imaging in the Setting of COVID 19: Case Based Discussions
COVID-19 is a complex, multisystem disease, which can have profound effects on many parts of the body, including the heart. The medical literature documents that approximately half of COVID-19 patients who received an echocardiogram in-hospital showed abnormalities in heart function. Some prospective studies found that around one in seven showed severe abnormalities likely to have a major effect on their survival and recovery.
This lecture will review cases that detail the patient selection process and test findings that strongly guide disease management.
Target Audience
Cardiologists, vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, echocardiography and noninvasive vascular testing specialists, nurses, sonographers, pharmacists, respiratory technologists
Learning Objectives
- Recognize the cardiac pathophysiology commonly seen in patients with COVID-19.
- Determine the appropriate indications for when to test for COVID-19.
- Demonstrate when to apply proper echocardiography protocol.
- Appropriately interpret the findings to guide disease management.
