Dental Oncology Conference Series - Opioid Use Disorder in the Dental Patient
The opioid crisis is a public health emergency in the U.S., with a severe impact in Florida. Attendees will leave the course able to define acute and chronic pain and opioid addiction, and know when to consider non-opioid and non-pharmacological alternatives for treating pain.

- Assess and understand the scope of the opioid crisis and the current situation in Florida.
- Implement best practices for safe prescribing of controlled substances, including emergency opioid antagonists and monitoring patients.
- Identify the risk of addiction and best practices for safe and effective treatment of acute pain with opioids.
