Ian Nisonson, M.D. Autism Spectrum Conference Series: Increasing Access to Early Diagnosis and Assessment of Autism Via Objective and Cost-effective Eye-tracking-based Tools
Honoring Our Founder: The Ian Nisonson, M.D. Autism Spectrum Conference Series
We are excited to announce a name change to our annual Autism lecture series, now named the Ian Nisonson, M.D. Autism Spectrum Conference Series. Initiated by Dr. Ian Nisonson 22 years ago, this series has been instrumental in raising awareness within the Medical Staff and the broader community about autism spectrum disorders. Dr. Nisonson has tirelessly championed this initiative together with Dr. Nina Sanchez, Co-director of the series, and in collaboration with local University of Miami Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) leadership to bring national experts, innovators, and key opinion leaders to our medical staff each year.
Join us for our annual Autism Spectrum lecture as our guest speaker, Ami Klin, Ph.D., addresses the challenges surrounding early diagnosis and assessment of children with autism. With the increasing prevalence of autism, it's crucial to develop strategies that ensure timely and accurate identification of the condition. Early diagnosis allows for early intervention, which can significantly improve outcomes for individuals with autism.
Dr. Klin's insights will touch on various aspects of these issues, including the need for improved screening tools, increased awareness among healthcare professionals and parents, and better access to specialized diagnostic services.
Target Audience
Pediatricians, Neurologists, Family Practice Physicians, Hospitalists, Nurses, Pharmacists, Dietitians, Athletic Trainers, Occupational Therapists, Respiratory Therapists, Social Workers and other interested healthcare professionals and members of the community.
Learning Objectives
- Recognize the early symptoms of autism and the typical priorities for treatment and intervention.
- Evaluate new advances in capitalizing eye-tracking research of early social development to generate cost-effective and community-viable solutions to increase access to early detection and diagnosis for young children with autism and related social-communication and language delays.
- Identify quantitative and cost-effective tool for the early diagnosis and assessment of autism; the clinical validation data that led to its FDA clearance for broad use in the community; and its potential for making the diagnostics process more efficient and accessible while maintaining high quality.
