Miami, FL US
October 29, 2019

The Baptist Health Medical Group’s Palliative Care Department, in collaboration with Catholic Hospice, VITAS Healthcare and Compassionate Care Hospice, presents Palliative Management of Persons with Serious Illness. Palliative care is a rapidly growing medical specialty in the United States, and a mounting body of evidence shows that it enhances the quality of healthcare for persons living with serious illness and for their families, while reducing medical expenditures. This one-day course aims to equip practitioners who care for patients with life-limiting conditions with the tools necessary to assess and treat physical and psychological symptoms, identify and support for spiritual distress, communicate goals of care and assist with complex medical decision making that aligns with patients’ families’ diverse cultural and religious beliefs.
