MCVI Grand Rounds: COVID-19 Cardiomyopathy: Case-Based Discussions

COVID-19 is a complex, multisystem disease, which can have profound effects on many parts of the body, including the heart. The association between COVID‐19 and the cardiovascular system has been well-described in the literature. This lecture will review cases, by a multidisciplinary team, detailing both primary and secondary cardiac manifestations of COVID-19, proper echocardiography protocol and clinical findings to guide disease management in these patients.

Cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, sonographer, pulmonologists, hematologists, general internists, primary care physicians, intensivists, emergency medicine physicians, hospitalists, nurses, occupational therapists, pharmacists and techs, respiratory therapists and other interested healthcare providers.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize both primary and secondary cardiac manifestations of COVID-19.
  • Determine the appropriate evaluation and proper echocardiography protocols.
  • Appropriately interpret the findings to guide disease management.
