Evidence-based Clinical Care: Respiratory Failure

This course provides evidence-based data supporting the standardization of care throughout Baptist Health for patients with respiratory failure. Included in this course are treatment algorithms, physician resources and the new quality metrics by which all medical staff will be evaluated.

Target Audience

Primary Care Physicians, Internal Medicine Physicians, Pulmonologists, Intensivists, Internists, Otolaryngologists, General Surgeons and Anesthesiologists.

Learning Objectives

  • Implement respiratory failure pathway and explain the evidence-based data supporting standardization.
  • Adhere to respiratory failure clinical goals by utilizing current standards for management and treatment.
  • Recognize the significance of metrics monitoring as it relates to decreasing clinical variation.
  • Leverage a multidisciplinary team to facilitate transition from observation to outpatient.
  • Counsel patients on available community resources to maximize accessibility and to ensure compliance upon discharge.
