The Gastroenterology Virtual Symposium is designed to provide attendees with relevant information regarding new developments in gastroenterology and new approaches to the management of gastrointestinal diseases. This half-day symposium is designed to provide clinicians with in-depth reviews of the latest science and cutting-edge advances in the treatment of H. pylori, fatty liver, gas and bloating, the use of biologics in inflammatory bowel disease.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this symposium, participants should be better able to:

  • Discuss the epidemiology and indications for treatment.
  • Review diagnostic testing for H. pylori.
  • Discuss evidence based primary and salvage treatment regimens for H. pylori.
  • Discuss the magnitude of fatty liver disease.
  • Explain the natural history of fatty liver disease.
  • Examine recent therapeutic strategies.
  • Explain the utilization of and transition between different biologics and small molecules in inflammatory bowel disease. 
  • Differentiate between bloating, distension and flatulence.
  • Describe the basic physiology of intestinal gas.
  • List the common factors that contribute to bloating/distension and flatulence.
  • Implement evidence-based recommendations for the management of bloating/distension and flatulence.
