Annual Stroke Conference - Decompressive Hemicraniectomy for Large Infarction: Indications and Outcomes
Hemicraniectomy is a surgical procedure in which a large flap of the skull is removed and the dura is opened; this gives space for the swollen brain to bulge and reduces the intracranial pressure. During this conference, Dr. McDermott and Dr. Siomin will discuss malignant strokes and indications for decompressive hemicraniectomy.
