COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a significant patient safety issue. Many hospitalized patients have risk factors for VTE. Among all hospitalized patients, VTE is the second most common medical complication, cause of excess length of stay, and the third most common cause of excess mortality and charges. This course will discuss surgical and nonsurgical interventions, indications, and follow-up care as well as the new hospital protocol based on current guidelines for better consistency among providers who care for patients with VTE.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
Internal Medicine Physicians, Physician Assistants, Residents, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Podiatrists, Pharmacists and all other interested healthcare providers.
