COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Advanced practice providers (APPs) –– nurse practitioners and physician assistants –– are key contributors to the delivery of quality care. With expanding practice roles in settings providing more-complex patient care, it is important to provide APPs opportunities for interprofessional continuing education.  

Baptist Health’s APP Grand Rounds provides an opportunity to promote excellence in patient care through scholarly presentations and interdisciplinary collaboration with an innovative approach. This series will address such topics as oncology, neurology, orthopedics, internal medicine and cardiology, and the approach to evidence-based and clinically relevant patient management. 

Sessions will focus on evaluation and management of acute and chronic diseases, as well as the role of research in disease management and health promotion. The series will also focus on topics relevant to advanced practice guidelines.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Physicians, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Physician Assistants, Pharmacists, Athletic Trainers and all other interested healthcare providers.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

•    Describe the anatomy of the peripheral vascular system and its relevance to vascular disease.
•    Identify the clinical features of peripheral artery disease, including presentation, risk factors, and physical examination findings.
•    Utilize an evidence-based approach to the diagnostic workup and follow-up of patients with peripheral artery disease.
•    Compare non-operative and operative management options for peripheral artery disease, considering patient-specific factors.
