COURSE DESCRIPTION:  

Bethesda Hospital East's general surgery team will use the morbidity and mortality rounds to analyze the team management of patient care, identify opportunities for surgical and system improvements and, as an interdisciplinary surgical team, address causes of adverse patient outcomes with the goal of improving patient care.

Participation in the morbidity and mortality rounds is by invitation only.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Bethesda Hospital East Surgery M&M invited members (surgeons, residents, physician assistants and advanced practice registered nurses.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Analyze team management of patient care and clinical outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities for surgical and system improvements to reduce the morbidity and mortality of surgical patients. 
  • Utilize the knowledge of the interdisciplinary surgical team to address causes of adverse patient outcomes. 
  • Perform literature review related to specific clinical cases.
