Course Description

There is a pressing need to increase the availability of emotional support to healthcare professionals.  Schwartz Rounds provide a space for staff to reflect on the emotional impact of their work. The Rounds are a multidisciplinary forum for all staff working in healthcare settings. The key premise is that supporting healthcare staff’s well-being, providing a way for them to gain insight into their feelings and those whom they work with helps them to work compassionately with patients.

Target Audience

Physicians, Nurses, Pharmacists, Dietitians, Nurse Practitioners, Chaplains, and other interested healthcare providers.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the social, emotional, ethical, and spiritual personal issues that arise during the care of patients and the impact on caregivers.
  • Demonstrate enhanced communication with patients, family members and colleagues.
  • Implement behaviors of nonjudgmental listening and respect.
  • Value opportunities to receive support from other members of the healthcare community.
