This conference will provide an update on the state-of-the-art treatment of oral, head and neck cancers. In addition, “hot topics” in oral medicine, intra-operative tumor assessment, reconstruction and adjuvant therapies will be discussed in a multidisciplinary format.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this conference, participants should be better able to:

  • Recognize early and late oral complications from head and neck cancer therapy.
  • Execute current management strategies for oral complications secondary to head and neck cancer treatment.
  • Implement current management strategies for patients with oral toxicities secondary to head and neck cancer.
  • Interpret data supporting a 1 mm or 2 mm margin cut off in 3D resections.
  • Develop surgical guidance systems prior to clinical implementation.
  • Explain the history and principles of head and neck cancer reconstruction.
  • Delineate the various types of reconstruction techniques currently available.
  • List de-escalation treatment options in HPV related head and neck cancers.
  • Describe new surveillance tools for HPV related head and neck cancers.
  • Summarize new developments in radiation therapy for head and neck cancers.
  • Demonstrate how the immune checkpoint inhibitor cemiplimab has led to a paradigm shift in the management of patients with advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.
  • Implement tumor specific antibodies, cancer vaccines, cytokines, adoptive T-cell transfer and immune-modulating agents when treating patients.
