Substance Abuse and Chemical Dependency: Physician Impairment

This course provides tools to recognize and manage matters of impairment specific to licensed independent practitioners in compliance with The Joint Commission Standard MS.11.01.01.

Samaritan Physicians: Successful completion of this activity will qualify Samaritan physicians for annual policy discounts. Upon completion, please print your certificate and submit to Samaritan for consideration.

Target Audience

All Physicians, Psychologists, Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners.

 

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the purpose and history of Professional Resource Network (PRN) and their relationship with the Department of Health and Medical Quality Assurance.
  • Recognize signs and symptoms of impaired practitioners and appropriately refer to PRN.
