COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Please join us for a conference on “A Case of Rapidly Progressive Dementia in our Community” with Marc A. Swerdloff, M.D. Dr. Swerdloff will discuss dementia in the elderly, present a case of rapidly progressive dementia (RPD) due to cortical Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease (CJD), and review the major types of CJD and prion propagation and the milestones of prion disease research

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Discuss dementia in the elderly.
- Present a case of rapidly progressive dementia (RPD) due to cortical Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease (CJD).
- Explain the diagnostic limitations of RT-QuIC testing in cortical CJD.
- Review the major types of CJD and prion propagation.
- Outline the clinical approach to diagnosis and management of RPD and prion diseases.
- Review the milestones of prion disease research
