COURSE DESCRIPTION: 
End-stage liver disease (ESLD) also known as advanced liver disease is irreversible. While transplantation is a treatment option, many patients do not qualify for this type of treatment. Please join us for End-Stage Liver Disease: What to Know? What to Do? With Dr. Eric F. Martin.

TARGET AUDIENCE:
Internal Medicine Physicians, Nephrologists, Physician Assistants, Residents, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Pharmacists and all other interested healthcare providers.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Incorporate a stepwise approach to identifying the underlying cause of cirrhosis.
  • Explain the pathophysiology behind portal hypertension and its consequences.
  • Implement appropriate screening measures for gastroesophageal varices and hepatocellular carcinoma.
  • Define acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF).
  • Recognize Whether or when to refer for liver transplantation.
