COURSE DESCRIPTION:
A multidisciplinary team approach in oral medicine in cancer care is fostered through peer-to-peer discussion and collaboration.
A team discussion addressing appropriate and timely identification of oral precancers (i.e. leukoplakia) and/or oral diseases will bridge gaps in access to oral medicine specialist and reduce the incidence and severity of complications attributed to cancer care therapy and illness.
This conference will enhance the growth at Miami Cancer Institute and Lynn Cancer Institute in partnership with local dental community to support medically complex patients to improve patient’s outcomes.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
Dentists, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Hematology Oncologists/Medical Oncologists, Surgical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, General Surgeons, Pathologists, Radiologists, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Physician Assistants/Physician Associates, Oncology Dental Assistants, Nurses, Social Workers, Pharmacists, and other healthcare personnel involved in the care of oral precancer patient.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
• Improve clinical decision making, clinical outcomes, and patient experience via a multidisciplinary team approach.
• Apply prospective patient care management strategies, interpret national treatment guidelines, evaluate options and eligibility for clinical research studies, and integrate supportive care services to enhance multidisciplinary decision-making.
• Develop a comprehensive treatment plan to help detect oral diseases leveraging clinical characteristics and evaluation, clinical pathology testing results, and utilization of visualization tools for an individualize approach to treatment.
