COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Medical Grand Rounds are a long-standing tradition in academic medicine, with all 99 U.S. medical school departments surveyed in 2006 reporting them as part of their educational programming (Mueller et al., 2006). In collaboration with Florida International University, we aim to revitalize this tradition by creating a unified, innovative lecture series that brings together attending physicians and residents from both health systems. This series will serve as a dynamic, learner-centered forum to explore emerging diagnostic tools, therapeutic advancements, and care delivery innovations.
Our goal is to bridge institutional gaps and foster academic collaboration while delivering clinically relevant, intellectually stimulating content. This reimagined Grand Rounds will support the academic missions of both institutions and enhance patient outcomes by promoting evidence-based innovation in internal medicine.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
Physicians, Baptist Hospital Medical Staff, pharmacists, nurses, and medical residents
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Recognize emerging diagnostic tools, therapeutic innovations, and care delivery models relevant to internal medicine practice.
- Evaluate the clinical relevance and applicability of new research findings and technological developments to the institution’s patient population.
- Incorporate evidence-based strategies and validated best practices into clinical decision-making and care coordination.
- Enhance interdisciplinary communication and collaboration through shared exploration of innovative approaches in internal medicine.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, adaptability, and openness to innovation in clinical practice.
