COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Please join us for a conference on Inpatient Management of Hypertension with Daena Flaxman-Erlich, M.D. Dr. Flaxman-Erlich will discuss the benefits and potential harms of treating elevated inpatient blood pressure. She will also determine and justify when asymptomatic elevated inpatient blood pressure warrants treatment and formulate appropriate treatment strategies.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
Internal Medicine Physicians, Cardiologists, Pulmonologists, Oncologists, Pharmacists, Physician Assistants, Residents, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, and all other interested healthcare providers
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Differentiate goals of inpatient hypertension management from outpatient management.
- Appraise the benefits and potential harms of treating elevated inpatient blood pressure.
- Define and characterize Hypertensive Emergency and select appropriate specific treatments.
- Define and categorize Asymptomatic Elevated Inpatient Blood Pressure (F.K.A. Hypertensive Urgency).
- Determine and justify when Asymptomatic Elevated Inpatient Blood Pressure warrants treatment and formulate appropriate treatment strategies.
- Develop targeted and individualized discharge plans for patients treated for elevated blood pressure during hospitalization.
