COURSE DESCRIPTION:  

Since first patients with AIDS were reported in 1981, HIV infection has developed into one of the greatest pandemics in modern times with devastating socioeconomic and demographic consequences. Currently, a total of 75 million people has become infected with HIV worldwide and 32 million have died of AIDS. In 2019, 1.7 million individuals became newly infected and some 38 million live with HIV, of whom not all have access to ART. Please join us to discuss how to appropriately screen and diagnose patients with HIV as well as identify the unique primary care needs of people with HIV. 

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Internal Medicine Physicians, Physician Assistants, Residents, Dentists, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Pharmacists and all other interested healthcare providers. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Appropriately screen and diagnose patients with HIV. 
  • Identify candidates who would be appropriate for Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).
  • Select a HIV regimen for a patient newly diagnosed with HIV.
  • Identify the unique primary care needs of people with HIV.
