Course Description: Stroke care team members should be experts on the frequently updated Baptist Health South Florida stroke protocols and comply with national guidelines on acute stroke care and local quality improvement initiatives. The guidelines support the overarching concept of stroke systems of care and detail aspects of stroke care from patient recognition; emergency medical services activation, transport and triage; through the initial hours in the emergency department and stroke unit. Through a journal-based discussion, members of the stroke care team will discuss early stroke evaluation and general medical care, as well as ischemic stroke, specific interventions such as reperfusion strategies, and general physiological optimization for cerebral resuscitation.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Neurologists, Neurosurgeons, Interventional Radiologists, Interventional Neuroradiologists, Internists, Hospitalists, Critical Care Physicians, Emergency Medicine Physicians, Neuropsychologists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Occupational Therapists and other interested healthcare providers.
